Gifts... for me!!!

Now that I have this crush, gifts that have something to do with sewing are the most welcomed, of course. Besides lots of fabric (yeiii!!!), I got this sewing suppplies box (from my SIL) and this purse (from my MIL, bought at an amazing shop in Caldas da Rainha where my SIL goes to college).

Thanks you guys!!!

Ainda sobre o Natal... / About Christmas yet again...

It's not like I live in the past, but I still haven't shown all the photos of the presents I made and the ones I got for Christmas. I plan on doing that this weekend. Some of the photos were taken with my new cell phone (they have better quality than the ones I used to take with my old phone and when I don't have the camera at hand it's a good plan B) but despite being new I had to have it serviced so I'm going to lose all the data and I'll have to take new photos.

(My studio looked like a factory with all those aprons in production...)

Panic attack!

Falta uma semana para o Natal. UMA SEMANA!!! Socorro!!!

One week until Christmas! ONE WEEK!!! HELP!!!
I haven't done nothing else besides sewing. In fact, I even spent my lunchtime today sewing. Yes, I took my mat, my ruler, my cutter, my pins, my everything, along with me... LOL
I'm still in secrecy mode, so I can't post any pictures yet, much to my dismay. But I can tell you this:

One down... err... how many more to go???

The only minimum decent way (emphasis on the "minimum") to photograph the first of several aprons* I plan to do for Christmas, as long as they don't take me as much time as this one, was on the floor, despite the rug not helping much. And you can't even see the details, snif snif!
Gotta get me some top model for this situations...

The famous SIL project (I so hope she doesn't read this)

Aqui está ele!!! O meu mega-projecto, a minha obra-prima!

Here it is! My big project, my master piece! I just love this "almost-sleeping-bag" I made with lots of love for my dear little sister-in-law!!!
It's meant to keep her warm when she is sitting down by the computer (which like any other teenager she does a lot). She hops inside and voilá! her feet and legs are all warmed up.
The two sides are different, the inside is Robert Kaufman's flannel - what a great investment, I tell you - and I particularly like the fabric I chose for the biding. Since the beggining I knew this was it. But my favourite fabric is the one in the last photo, which I'm yet to confirm who's it by because I want to buy more (this time for me, for a change).

Countdown

Christmas is more or less 50 days away and practically all the women in the family will be getting handmade presentes... by Daisy! Given that I have very limited experience and I like to take my time with each piece, I would say that... huh... I should have started a while ago??? Specially taking into consideration that I won't be having that much spare time in the next few weekends, because I'll be atending some classes (a work thing).
But I'm one of those people who depend a lot on ideas. When I was a journalist, finding the right title was everything to me, then I could write a whole article in a blink of an eye - because I already had my angle, my title. This means that until I have an idea, I'm in pain. After having an idea, I feel immediatly relieved. From that to making it a reality is piece of cake.
I won't be saying much about who will get what, because there is a chance they might be reading me now, but... I'll say this much: I'm really excited about the gift I'll be making for my sister-in-law. She is an artist herself (painter, among other things) and there is always a sort of really fun competition about who gets the other one the most original present. The piece I'm making is my own idea and design, I measured it, chose and cut the fabrics, oh and I just can't wait to have it ready! It's the first of the Christmas presents and it will be hard for me to wait until Christmas to see her reaction to it, but thankfully I'll be too preocupied in the meantime with all the other presents...

All I want for Christmas

Every year around this time people start asking me what I want for Christmas.
Every year I ask for wool because winter rhymes with knitting... and every year they ignore me.
This year I'm going to ask for fabrics and I sure do hope my wish comes true, because all the free time I manage until Christmas I'll be sewing some presents and that may reduce my stash considerably.
I have some plans, but I won't share them, or it would ruin the surprise...

Not so much a Christmas project...

I bought an Amy Buttler pattern to do 3 different aprons. It might not be your typical Christmas project, but I have a hunch that it's going to be what all my friends are going to be getting. It's three different aprons, that I can do in different sizes, not to mention the different fabrics, so noone can complain that it's not personalized.
