GIVEAWAY!!!

Divulgarei o vencedor no dia 8. Boa sorte!!!
Espero que se divirtam tanto quanto eu!!!

Who wants to win this book cover?
As promised, June doesn't come to an end without seeing this blog's first giveaway. I decided to do this book cover because it's a marriage between two of my greatest loves: sewing and reading. I just looooove books. But don't you all hate it when you are on the train or sitting at a caffe and everyone gets to see what book you're reading? Or how the corners of the cover get damaged because you run around with a book on your handbag? Hence, the book cover.
I only have one to give away (but if you don't win and really want to have on too we can arrange that, I'll be happy to oblige) and the rules are:
- leave a comment on this post telling me your three favourite books, and why. Picking just one would be too difficult, right? Three is a good number. You see, I'm a really fast reader, so I'm left with nothing to read in a heartbeat and I could really use your suggestions because summer is coming.
- whoever has left a comment on my blog before, gets automatically another entry.
- you don't have to become a follower or post about my giveaway on your blog, blablabla, but if you want to do this, oh well, you get another entry.
- I'm not sure if I would be able to use the random generator thingy without screwing up, so I'll do things the old way: I'll write the names in small pieces of paper and then draw one (who am i kidding, there won't be many entries anyway, so it won't be a hard thing to do).
The giveaway will close on July 7th at 23:59 (Greenwich Time). I'll announce the winner on the 8th.
Good luck! I hope you have as much fun as I'm having!!!

  1. Cool idea for a giveaway! I wish I were a fast reader. Can I lump the Twilight saga into one favorite? Another favorite of mine would be the Wicked Lovely series. A third favorite would be The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson.

  2. Oh no - I don't even think I can just pick three - but three that I've read recently that were really really good were - The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Gravedigger's Daughter...

  3. What a cute book cover. Three books is still hard. I am into series lately. I would suggest The Hunger Game series by Suzanne Collins. Such quick reads that are fast paced and loaded with non stop human emotion. I would also suggest the Peter and the Star Catchers series. I recently discovered them. They are so fun and really have a great way of tying in the actual story of peter pan. Last, the Percy Jackson series. I loved greek mythology growing up and these books were a joy to read.

  4. Very very cute book cover. three good books?

recently I finished The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. awesome, women bonding, midwifes. it was very good, touched the heart.

I also just read water for elephants by sara gruen. the storyline caught me from the start, and I liked learning some backstory of circuses in america

I also just recently reread the Whole world over by Julia Glass. I found the complications and thought processes thought provoking.

  5. Hmm, my favorite books? The Secret Life of Bees is my favorite this year. The book 1, Material Obsession by the quilt shop ladies of the same name from Australia. And I would have to say that any book written by Jennifer Chiaverini, the Elm Creek book series. I guess I have quilting on my mind, lol! I also love any book that features life prior to 1950, no romance books please. Just good clean fun reading with a touch of history tossed in. Thank you for the opportunity to be in your draw, Elaine
I would like to invite your readers too to come over to my giveaway!

Let's see, my three favorite books are:

    1. Pride and Prejudice (Austen)
    2. The Three Musketeers (Dumas)
    3. The Twilight Series!

but since you've already read that, I'll say The Time Traveler's Wife.

    Pretty predictable, but I don't care. :)

  13. My three favorite books.

Jude Devereaux - Knight in Shining Armor
    Jude Devereaux - Legend
    Andrea Kane - Dark Room

I'm usually not into romances (Jude Devereaux), but the two I have listed above are about time travel and evidently I have a fixation with that issue. I'll bet I have bought at least 10 copies of each one of those books and given them away to friends. I keep the nice, pretty books for myself, but pick up extra copies at the used book stores whenever I can.

  14. I'm a fast reader too. I'm always looking for good books to read. I really enjoyed these two I read last week: The Red Thread, a novel by Ann Hood about adoption of girls from China and Crazy for the Storm by Norm Ollestad. This one is about his survival in a plane crash as an eleven year old. The third book I'll mention is a favourite of mine that I've read about five times. Oh Rugged Land of Gold by Martha Martin (1953). It may be hard to find but I bought a used copy from Amazon for under $10. It is about her survival alone in the Alaskan wilderness when her husband gets lost. I guess I like adventure books :)

  15. joined your followers list. this is a fun book cover. what a great giveaway!! my favorite books besides reading scriptures, are pride and prejudice, sense and sensibility and the one i'm reading right now about george washington called sacred fire. don't think it'd fit in your book cover though!! in paper back it's almost 1200 pages. i also loved memoirs of a geisha several years ago, and a rather hard to read but fantastic one is about a model/actress who survived a horrendous car wreck (can't think of the name of it, but will look it up if you want) another fascinating book is reading lolita in tehran

  16. That is such a lovely book cover! And it would be very helpful to keep your books in nice condition while they are being read.
It is hard to pick favourite books, as I'm sure any avid reader would tell you, however I'll tell you three books I have read which I loved!
    - A Painted House by John Grisham. Not his usual style at all, but an excellent story!
    - The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. If you have seen the movie and have therefore judged the book based on this, erase that judgement from your mind! The book is far superior, with a richer storyline and a different ending. This book made me think a lot and cry buckets.
    - The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay. Since you live in Portugal I'll assume you haven't heard of the Australian author Bryce Courtenay. All of his books are great stories, but The Power of One was my favourite of all. You won't be disappointed!
Thanks so much for the opportunity to win!

  23. Hmmm 3 favorite books: I'll pick 3 genres so hopefully you'll be interested in at least one. For Fiction I just finished South of Broad by Pat Conroy. I used to live in Charleston, SC (now live close to Washington DC) so it's great sticky summer drama with great descriptions of Charleston. Nonfiction: I'd pick Seeds of Greatness by Dennis Waitley. I always give this book away to graduates, the new career set, or newly divorced. It's one of those books that talks about letting go of the shoulda-coulda-wouldhave-shouldhave negative thoughts. A book you can read over and over and depending where you are in life, you'll get something different out of it. Third category is children's books: I have 2 in this category. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a favorite-I'll-eat-my-veggies-for-this-book obsession with my 2yr old. And all time favorite, Fall of Freddy the Leaf by Leo Buscaglia. Most know Leo for his Living, Loving, and Learning book. The Fall of Freddy the Leaf explains death/living from a leaf's point of view. Thank you for this giveaway, and also for asking this question. It's a great little gift for us to see what everyone's favorite is...perhaps some inspiration for a little summer reading.
